“I understand that COVID-19 has been a source of great division in our country,” Joe Biden stated on Thursday as he outlined his “action plan to combat COVID-19 this winter.”

“It’s become a political issue, which is a sad, sad commentary. It shouldn’t be, but it has been,” said a president who has helped to stoke those divisions by declaring this to be a “pandemic of the unvaccinated” and by suggesting that unvaccinated Americans are shirking their “patriotic duty.”

America’s question to Biden over this statement would be, “Why did you allow this to happen?”

Do you remember the Vice Presidential debate in 2020, where Kamala Harris told America she wouldn’t take the COVID-19 vaccine if Donald Trump mandated it? Now Biden claims things have become divisive? Give me a break!

When Biden revealed his disputed vaccination mandates in September (something he had previously stated he would not favor during the presidential campaign), he blamed unvaccinated Americans for the disease’s continued spread and mounting death toll, saying:

According to Biden, “We have the means to battle COVID-19, and a distinct minority of Americans, who are supported by a distinct minority of elected leaders, are preventing us from turning the corner.” “These pandemic politics, as I call to them, are getting people sick, and they are causing unvaccinated people to die,” says the author.

In remarks delivered on September 27, the Biden stated, “The great majority of Americans are acting in the best interests of their country. More than 77 percent of people have received at least one vaccination. About 23 percent of the population has not received any vaccinations, and that — that small but significant minority is inflicting an awful lot of harm to the rest of us and the rest of the country.”

The immunization requirements set forth by the Biden Administration apply to government employees, federal contractors, and even major private companies. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s vaccination mandate for employers has been put on hold awaiting the outcome of lawsuits launched by business and industry organizations against the agency.

An administration official, however, encouraged companies to voluntarily implement vaccination obligations on Thursday, stating that: “I believe that what we’re doing is exactly what we’ve been doing all along, which is to call on companies to step up and do what’s necessary to safeguard their employees and their communities, which is to implement some form of vaccine or testing requirement for the workplace.

On Thursday, Biden made an attempt at unity:

Now as we move into the winter and face the challenge of this new variant, this is a moment we can put this divisiveness behind us, I hope.

This is a moment we can do what we haven’t been able to do enough of through this whole pandemic: get the nation to come together, unite the nation in a common purpose to fight this virus, to protect one another, to protect our economic recovery, and to think of it in terms of literally a patriotic responsibility rather than a — somehow you’re denying people their basic rights.

The plan I’m announcing today is a plan our scientists and COVID teams have recommended.

And while my existing federal vaccination requirements are being reviewed by the courts, this plan does not expand or add to those mandates — a plan that all Americans, hopefully, can rally around.

And it should be — and should get bipartisan support, in my humble opinion.  And it should unite us, not continue to separate us.
