Cancel culture is going crazy, huh?

Denise Richards, an actress and former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, is being chastised for a rather weird Instagram post in which she boasted about not wearing a mask on an aircraft.

Despite the fact that no one inquired, Richards rushed to social media to inform her fans that she was not wearing a mask but was instead hiding under a sweatshirt and a winter coat.

If it makes no sense to you, it does not make medical or scientific sense, and the internet is flogging her for it. Richards has now removed the post, but screenshots remain, so have a look at her post below.

Richards commented behind a caption that said she was “on a jet plane”:

Respectfully, What, Ms. Richards?

For the record, concealing oneself behind a hoodie and a winter coat does not constitute an acceptable method of minimizing COVID-19.

Being confrontational about medical protocols isn’t entirely out of character for Richards, judging by her tenure on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Aaron Phypers, an alternative medicine practitioner, claims to have uncovered multiple medicinal discoveries so revolutionary that the medical and pharmaceutical sectors have been monitoring him and Richards for years. Additionally, Phypers said that “everything you’ve been taught about how disease processes and other things function is false.”

In recent years, the holistic wellness and alternative medicine communities in which Phypers and Richards operate have developed a strong affinity for anti-vaccine movements and conspiracy theories such as QAnon, whose adherents believe COVID is a hoax, masks do not work, and vaccines cause death, among other absurdities.

Nonetheless, Richards and Phypers have both been seen wearing masks during public engagements during the outbreak, making Richards’ weird and unprovoked 180 Instagram post all the more unusual.

Naturally, social media users delighted in putting Richards in his place.

According to a People story, Richards is now embarassed by the tweet and has expressed apologies to members of her closest circle.
