After months of rumors and speculation, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) confirmed today that she plans to run for re-election in 2022.

Even if the Democrats maintain control of the House of Representatives, Pelosi has agreed to a four-year restriction on her term as Speaker, so she mostly likely will not be in that seat.

Pelosi said in a tweet that “although we have made progress, much more has to be done to better people’s lives” in reference to her reelection campaign film.

“Nothing less than our democracy hangs in the balance of this election. Pelosi, though, stressed that “we don’t agonize-we organize.”

Pelosi said, “I am standing for re-election to Congress in order to serve the people and protect our democratic system of government.”

Longtime Democratic Congressman Jim Cooper (TN) stated today that he would not run for reelection in 2022, which brought Pelosi’s approval rating down a notch earlier today.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) tweeted today, “Democrats have delivered #ForThePeople! With the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law!” in an attempt to stop the tide against Democrats today.

This investment will generate millions of good-paying, union jobs in communities around the nation over the next decade, Pelosi said.

It is widely expected that Hakeem Jeffries (NY), the House Democratic Caucus chairman, would replace Nancy Pelosi as House Democratic leader.

There is no way she would do it if she were in the minority, a legislator told The Hill recently.

Republicans just need to gain five more House seats in November’s midterm elections to take control of the chamber.

When questioned about a possible re-election bid in 2022 back in October, Pelosi remained silent.

Inquiring about your own political future is on my mind. “Are you considering a re-election campaign?” In an interview, CNN’s Jake Tapper posed the question.

Are you expecting an announcement from me right now? Pelosi reacted to it.

Even if she does not win re-election, Pelosi’s announcement that she is running now assures that she will not be a lame-duck congresswoman next year.
