In an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal, Rochelle Walensky said that she could have conveyed key information to the American people more effectively during her first year as head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “She claims that the epidemic gave her a curveball that she should have seen coming. Dr. Walensky believes that there is still a long way to go. The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, a non-profit organization, has estimated that modernizing public-health data infrastructure for the federal government and 3,050 state and local health agencies will cost around $30 billion over a ten-year period.”
